Doorbell Detectives Renewed for Second Series on BBC One Daytime
Purple Productions is thrilled to announce that Doorbell Detectives, presented by Matt Allwright, has been recommissioned for a second series on BBC One Daytime and BBC iPlayer.
The series explores neighbourhood crime in Britain through the experiences of 'Doorbell Detectives'—victims who have turned to their video doorbells and security cameras to help police track down criminals. With over one in five UK households now equipped with video doorbells, these gadgets not only provide a greater sense of security but are also empowering communities to solve crimes right on their doorsteps.
From the Incident Room in Manchester, Matt delves into the experiences of ordinary people capturing extraordinary instances of neighbourhood crime on their smart doorbells and domestic CCTV. Each episode reveals how crucial doorbell footage has been in investigations—helping identify locations, times, and those involved.
Throughout the series, police experts offer insights and practical tips on how audiences can protect themselves from some of the most common techniques used by criminals—from burglaries to pet thefts.
Doorbell Detectives is produced by Purple Productions, based in Manchester and part of Objective Media Group, an All3Media company. The series has been commissioned for 12x30 episodes by Rob Unsworth, Head of BBC Daytime and Early Peak Commissioning, with Commissioning Editor Helen Munson overseeing the project.
The show is currently casting for a street to get involved. Whether you're worried about home break-ins or just want to feel more secure in your community, our expert team is here to help YOU.
